Kim McCabe is a hobby potter based in Alameda, California.

A long-time science enthusiast, nerd, and educator, she unfortunately succumbed to the silly belief that she “wasn’t an artist” until taking her first pottery class in her 30s. She was hooked by the maleability and messiness, and the way that chemistry and heat transformed the glazes. Now, 6 years later, she operates a home studio and has taught beginner wheel-throwing classes in the Bay Area. Studio art has transformed the way she thinks about learning, creativity, and growth, and she loves encouraging other adults who gave up on art in high school to give it a try!

She loves to make functional wear that tells a story and brings people together, either over a shared fandom, a built imaginary world, or the patterns and creatures of the world we live in.
